Sunday's Adventures

Today we were told that we need to keep all doors shut tight, because there is a bear on the property and we don't want to walk in and find one in our room! If that wasn't bad enough, our window doesn't shut all the way, so spiders and all sorts of bugs are finding their way into our room! I just overheard my roommate, Linnea, trying to get the courage to kill a spider, and I quote, "the size of a monkey."
We went to church as a group again today. We visited a small church that meets in the basement of a grocery store. In two weeks, they will be moving into their new facility. We were able to tour their new building, and it is very nice. I call it the perfect wedding church. It has an amazing view of the mountains, overlooking Mary's Lake. I love the different churches around here. They seem to be flourishing, and they don't need all the fancy equipment, or big buildings. This church is still simple and focused on the real reason for attending church. It's very refreshing!
I worked on a bunch of homework all afternoon (gasp!). Yes, yes, I actually cracked open the books and put this God given brain to use! After a successful homework session, I headed over to a small church in Estes for my outreach. I will be helping out at a local youth group, for jr and sr high students. This church is meeting in a community center, and has probably 30 students total. It's tiny, but the students are focused and very ready to learn. The youth director, Bobby, said he really isn't sure how to go about this whole program, and would LOVE help and input to get things up and running. I'm so psyched, because this is where my passion is and I have SO many ideas for the group!
I talked with Kristin back home tonight. She said Captain Goggles isn't doing too well (For those of you who have not had the privilege of meeting Captain Goggles...he was my Beta fish). I guess he keeps sinking to the bottom of the bowl, then floating to the top for hours at a time. Mark told her to flush him because he was dead, but the next day he was swimming around the bowl like nothing was wrong! Now, except for a bulging eye ball, I hear he is doing well! He's my miracle fish! (That or he just has major gas).
Well, I have a major headache tonight, I better get some sleep. We have a guest speaker this week. Thankfully, we don't get homework from guest speakers, but I have enough from all the rest to keep me busy for a few days. Tomorrow is a desperately needed laundry day! I'll put all my mothers laundry expertise to good use. Good night!
