Updates

Elijah has been drinking from a bottle for a week now! Things definitely changed since the last update. He started refusing the new bottle too, so I figured I had a huge battle ahead of me. We kept playing the "You only get to drink out of a bottle" game, but he is SO stubborn! Then one day he randomly started using his pacifier again, so I wondered if he would take a bottle with a nipple in the same shape as his pacifier. IT WORKED. He took a whole bottle right away, and hasn't refused one since! He is even willing to take a few ounces of formula!
Since Elijah took the bottle so well, I was able to spend the whole day at the beach on Sunday without him! I went with Sara, Becky and Laura. It was a beautiful day! It was so relaxing just laying on the beach and not having to worry about Elijah. I came back refreshed and excited to spend Monday with my little guy.
Friday night Joel and I were also able to get away for a little while. Becky watched Elijah so we could have a date night, and we went mini golfing and out for dinner. Even before Elijah, we didn't really have many date nights where we actually went out and did something besides coffee or going for a walk, so this was really fun!
Grandma Hess passed away a few weeks ago. She had been suffering from alzheimers for a few years now. We were able to visit her the Saturday before she died. She was pretty sick, but she woke up and said "hi" to Elijah! It was a really special moment. I wish I would have known her before she had alzheimers, but I was able to see her sweet personality and gentle spirit through everything. She will definitely be missed.
Well, I'm going to get going. Elijah is asleep and Joel is at a meeting, so I think I'm going to go enjoy having a quiet house to myself!
