Decorations

I love decorating. I usually beg Joel to put up decorations Thanksgiving weekend, but this year, considering our living room is torn apart, I had very little space to decorate (that wouldn't get covered in dust). So, for the first time in my life, we decided not to put up a Christmas tree. I was bummed about it for a while, but now with the craziness of remodeling, traveling, and kids...I'm sort of glad I didn't have a tree added to the mess. One of my favorite parts of Christmas is sitting on the couch, lights off, just staring into the tree. We will be at my parents house over Christmas, so I'll get my tree fix there. This way I won't have all the work that comes with a tree...watering it, keeping the kids away from it, taking it down....or vacuuming pine needles up for months on end. Maybe I'll just let my mom do all the work every year...ha!
I decorated the outside of our house this year, maybe to make up for not being able to inside. I really enjoyed doing it, and am really pleased with how it turned out. Living in the city, I had never really put much thought into decorating out house, but I think I'll do it again next year. Pictures to come of that...
We had our first "Christmas" celebration last night with Joel's mom and sister, since we leave for WI soon. Our kids were showered with many fun gifts! It is so fun to see the excitement on their faces as they open gifts. They have been playing all day with their new treasures! My kids are so blessed to have so many grandma's, grandpa's, aunts and uncles, who love them so much.
Well, Ella decided not to nap this afternoon, and would love my attention. I think I'll go ahead and give it to her :)
