I am really enjoying being a mom. Elijah is such a joy, and overall a pretty easy newborn! I feel very blessed that these first two weeks have gone so well. It has had its stressful moments, but I am having a lot of fun. It's especially wonderful now that I am feeling almost 100% and we are out and about.
We bought a crib mattress last night and I'm excited to have Elijah start napping in his crib. I'm hoping it won't be too long until he sleeps in his own room. Since he is only up 1 or 2 times, I don't mind going down to the baby room to feed him. We also fed him a bottle for the first time on Sunday! As of this weekend, I hadn't really been frustrated or at least I hadn't shown my frustration. So Sunday I had a day of feeling completely overwhelmed, but not really for any specific reason. I decided to try to pump and give Elijah a bottle. I don't think that was really what made me feel better, but it is such a great feeling to know that I can get out of the house for more than 2 hours, and I can bring a bottle with me if I go out with him.
Elijah also had his first doctor appointment today. He is now 9 lbs 8 oz, a pound and a half more than he was when he was born. We don't need to worry that he isn't getting enough food, that's for sure.
Joel has entered into the busy season with work. It's great for our checkbook, but it means long days and a tired husband at night! Today they all quit at 10:00, and went golfing! I'm glad he gets to have a fun, relaxing day.
We get to see Sara this weekend! She will be back in the U.S. on Thursday and we are all looking forward to seeing her very much! She has been overseas since December, so she will be meeting Elijah for the first time. Joel and I can't wait to have her around again, and we are also excited for Elijah to meet Aunt Sara!
Well, Elijah is asleep, so I better get some things done!
