Weekend at the Cabin

We spent this past weekend in the mountains with a bunch of friends and had such a blast. Elijah spent the whole weekend with Grandma and Grandpa Hess, so we were able to have a relaxing weekend without the little dude. We stayed in Andy's family cabin, which is on a beautiful property! We roughed it with no heat (only a wood stove in the kitchen) and no hot water, which means no showers! Laura, Sara and I went for a bike ride on the "rails to trails" path, which wound us through some amazing scenery and lots of beautiful fall colors! Saturday afternoon we went down to Rattlesnake Rock, where Jesse went fly fishing. Andy taught me how to properly skip rocks and it ended in all of us throwing rocks at a bigger rock pile, trying to knock it down for probably an hour or two! It was so fun...we felt so childish! We definitely laughed a lot. I have to admit, my arm is still a little sore from all the throwing. We also built rock carins (the stacked rock piles). Joel built that beautiful piece of art in the 5th picture.
I feel like looking back on the weekend, it was like being a kid again! Waking up ready for the day, going on bike rides, throwing rocks into the river, playing cards and just laughing for an entire weekend just leaves you feeling refreshed and younger! We had great conversation too, but for the most part it was lighthearted and just plain fun.
